Both my children attend Holme preschool, one at rising 5's and the other at turning 3's and I Highly recommend Sue Aylett and her team. My children love going and always come out bursting with things to tell me about what they have done that day, be it playing with shaving foam to petting animals from the wriggly roadshow!!
I would (and do) recommend Holme preschool to anyone who asks and I can not imagine a safer, happier pre-school anywhere.

My children attend Holme Pre-school and they love it. Tom is 4 and Anna 2 years old. The environment is fun and there is lots of learning through play. The staff are friendly and always very helpful. Anna has only recently started and attends one afternoon a week. I have never experienced settling in problems with either of my children, they are confident and are made to feel part of the group.
I can highly recommend this pre school

My daughter Rhianna who is now 5 1/2 attended the Pre-school until July 2005 and Amber who is 3 1/2 is there now. I can't recommend it highly enough - I removed Rhianna from 2 mornings at a local nursery within a month of her attending Holme because I was so impressed. The curriculum is wide and interesting with all sorts of activities and subjects covered, the teaching is excellent and the folders they bring home each term have to be seen to be believed, complete with photos, comments, learning intentions and examples of craft/letter/number activities. They have recently received visits from Wriggly wrigglers, local community police, animals (even a goat!) as well as making trips out to the local area. The mini nativity play, carols and Christmas party were also great fun. I think the combination of enthusiastic and inventive teaching together with the dedicated committee who constantly fundraise and try to improve facilities sets this apart from other Pre-schools (and I have visited a fair few!) This doesn't feel like child care but a constant play and learning environment both my girls adore(d)!

When my daughter became the right age to start attending Pre-school she had never been cared for by anyone other than immediate family and was warey of being left. I tried a pre-school in my village but she never settled, and it was a real struggle to get her ready to go in the morning or to even leave the house if she knew I was likely to leave her there. That wasn't the pre-school experience I had envisage for either of us and was both stressfull for both me and her. I took her out of that setting and started to look at other pre-schools. There were quite a few to choose from but what immediately grabbed me about Holme Pre-school was the warm friendly setting and staff. We were made to feel very welcome and the staff straight away made my daughter feel comfortable - they literaly got down to her level and joined in with the messy play! She now gets her coat and shoes on with me hardly needing to ask and skips into school. she also mentions school in a very positive light on days when she's not there, wanting to collect things and take them along to show everyone - just what pre-school should be about and the best possible start every parent could want. A great big thank you to all the staff and everyone involved in making it such a friendly and enjoyable place.

My daughter settled in very well at Alconbury C of E even though she attended most of her pre-school time at Holme. I looked at all of the local Pre-schools in the area, and even tried a few others (Alconbury Pre-school and Just Learning in Huntingdon), but I found Holme the most warm and friendly....much more like our oun home environment. It was so totally geared towards fun, getting messy, enjoying textures, seeing environments around the world and learning at the pace of a normal three-four year old............The school is set in an older village hall....nothing too posh, but just a warm cosy area that makes the children feel welcome to explore and comfortable to be themselves......It has lots of nice windows to bring in natural light and a lovely outdoor play area that is actually used very often ( unlike some who have fantastic outdoor facilities, but spend very little time outside????) Some pre-schools try to be too high tech with lots of computerized gadgets....but honestly, wont' they get enought of this stuff in main stream school.......Most kids I know spend way too much time in front of the TV, Nintendo, and computer.......I had much rather my 3/4 year old be squishing their tiny fingers in flour and salt dough making snails and doing proper finger painting than learning to paint on an interactive white board..............and at Holme Pre-school I am proud to say that Isabella's confidence was greatly boosted by the cuddles from the adorable staff (especially Sue and Karen). They always helped her settle into each day without any fear of Mummy going. It was very hard for me to leave Isabella. I cried as much as she did.......and Sue even had to give me a hug occasionally. But soon, when I came to pick her up, she was crying to stay. I look forward to seeing the staff at Holme again soon. Many thanks for all your help and support.

I have had children attending Holme Pre-School for three years now. I attribute my eldest daughters easy transition to Holme Primary School to the confidence that she gained attending Pre-School. The regular visits that pre-school made to the primary helped prepare and excite her about the move to 'Big School'.

My Younger daughter has been at Pre-School for six months now, the addition of the turning threes sessions meant that she settled into the setting and got to know the staff well without feeling crowded and intimidated by the bigger children. In January she graduated to the morning sessions where despite being the youngest child she has settled in quickly and is very happy.

My son isn't due to start until this time next year but is already desperate to stay! He has to be pried away in the mornings when we leave his sister. He is already very fond of the wonderful staff even though he isn't yet in their care! Although to be honest I don't blame him, quite often I think I'd like to stay and play too as they all seem to have such a lovely time.

I have had 3 children attend Holme Pre-school over the past 8 years and it just seems to get better and better, the staff are fantastic and really care for the children and organise great activities for the children to learn through. I would recommend this pre school to any parent looking for somewhere to send their children.

I am so impressed with Holme Pre-school and I know that my little boy is too as he asks why he cannot go at the weekend!

I would like to give my son's opinion of Holme pre-school which shows how much he enjoys being with and feels cared for by the staff:
On returning from pre-school he was asked by a relative what he had been doing, he replied "I have been to my friend's house, Mrs Aylett's, to play."

I've been lucky enough to have two children in pre-school for the last 4 years and I can honestly say I couldn't imagine there being a better place!

My eldest son was shy and lacked confidence and yet when he started primary school this year he has been brilliant and this is to the fantastic grounding pre-school gave him!

I hope my youngest son continues to enjoy the next 18 mths there and does as well at primary when his time comes!

Well done to all the staff!

A 1st class pre-school with excellent staff who really make the extra steps to ensure that the children are well looked after whilst ensuring that each of the sessions focus on learning. Without hesitation I would recommend the pre-school to any parent or carer.
